My work is surreal and the layered tableaus I compose often include found materials. I find my subjects in everyday life; family, media and films, and dreams. I am interested in following the relationship between inner circumstances and the environment. Things in my spaces are places to be, in which situations can be understood, or at least looked at. I have always admired the commitment in religious icons, and am a fan of architecture. Artists I appreciate are Manet, Pinkham Ryder, Alice Aycock, Joann Todd, Stan Douglas, Shirin Nashat and Neo Rauch to name a few.

“ I am intrigued with how inner processes come to light through relationships. My paintings are narrative and subjects include family members, friends, movie stills, media images, dreams and architectural scenes.  I do not try to understand what I am painting, but i do look for a feeling that is elusive yet familiar, and lies in the construction of the space. The presence of things meeting with the presence of other things including the space, inspires me.”
