Genevieve Graham

Genevieve Graham Clothing is a women’s clothing and accessory line which focuses on completely original, highly detailed and hand sculpted pieces. The label was launched in 2000 following Genevieve’s graduation from the Helen Lefeaux School of Fashion Design, in Vancouver, Canada. This is where she first began to explore with draping, dyeing and meticulously handcrafted details. In 2004 Genevieve co-founded the clothing label Obakki, where she created many acclaimed collections as head women’s designer. Feeling drawn to her roots, Genevieve decided to return to a more tactile, hands on approach to design and in 2008 she re-launched the Genevieve Graham label. It was during this time when she began to push the boundaries of her craft and dedicate her time to the art of free-form draping. In 2009 Genevieve was a competitor on the reality television series Project Runway Canada, season 2, she placed within the top 4 and was rewarded with funding to produce a F/W09 capsule collection which was showcased at Toronto Fashion Week.

Now, 15 years since it’s inception, the Genevieve Graham label is releasing its most inspired work. Through sculpture, hand dyeing and unconventional details, Genevieve’s earthy and ethereal works have found a prominent place within the hearts of fashion collector’s globally.

Every Genevieve Graham piece is hand made by the designer herself in her Vancouver studio. Pattern drafting is used very little in Genevieve’s work, alternatively, she drapes and sculpts fabric on the dress-form to create her garments. All details and dyeing are done by hand and most pieces are entirely hand sewn, forgoing the use of sewing machines. Each and every piece made is one-of-a-kind, ensuring that all garments are as unique as those that wear them. All fabrics, dyes, and supplies are sourced locally and ethically.

Genevieve works, lives, and spends time growing things barefoot in the soil in a one hundred year old house near the beach, with her husband and their cat, Sloane Peterson. Genevieve continues to explore and expand the boundaries of her work as everyday brings new inspiration and concepts that will be brought to life in new work.
