Richard grew up in London, England, with an English father and Canadian mother. After school he attended Heatherly’s art school in London and managed two retail stores on the Kings road and Fulham road, as well as buddying people suffering with AIDS in the 1990s and driving a London double decker bus around the world raising money for charities.
He moved to Salt Spring Island in 2001 with his wife and two children and busied himself making furniture, raising his children, volunteering in the schools, and coaching youth soccer.
In 2012 he joined the Arts Council as manager of Artcraft, putting his retail and art school experiences to good use. To date he is in his 7th year with Artcraft, and is thrilled to be involved in its 50 th anniversary.
